About the CDD
The CDD is the product of 17 years of research carried out by our in-house team of consultants.
We update it continually to reflect the development and use of new components and systems, and to take into account of experience of claims and performance of buildings.
The web-enablement of the database in 2003 was funded by an Innovation and Good Practice Grant from the Housing Corporation.

What’s in the CDD? What’s in the CDD? | | | | The data includes explicit criteria that determine durability, maintenance requirements, design and installation assumptions and adjustment factors for a particular component (for example, a GRP internal garage door).
The durability rankings are risk management figures used to indicate the relative durability of components. Components with higher durability rankings have physical properties that lead us to expect improved durability for a given environment.
The durability data can form the basis of whole life cost plans, component specifications and selection, and maintenance plans and asset management strategies. The data also has particular value in the commercial construction industry, including for PFI bid information, and in asset management consultancy. | | | |

Notice: The data presented in the CDD is for information purposes only. The true value of the data lies in its use in real-life investment, planning and maintenance decisions in construction projects, through the application of appropriate professional expertise and judgment.
